ALLEY (the band), our Songs

The Release (Now it's over)

(NOW ON All PLATFORMS)

The song is a song of hope and happiness, the joy of finally being released from a dark place whether that be physically or mentally, the looking back and holding out a hand to help others to stand in the sun.

The song came about when Ali told Robbie she thought the song, " Watching You Leave" needed a bridge.  Robbie wrote the words for a bridge set it to a simple chord progression and sent it to Ali with a message saying, "this is not a bridge, this needs a song written around it".   Ali agreed and wrote the song within days. The words were written whilst Ali was waiting at a bus stop.

Al’s production finds and bring out the emotion within the song, he also introduced the iconic slide guitar, using a 13mm mini socket as a slide

La La Land

(NOW ON BANDCAMP)

Robbie was writing a song called Oregon Girl when Ali heard it and thought the music was perfect for her song, La La Land, as ever, Ali got her own way and used the tune.

The words were written on a skiing trip in France where Ali was fascinated by a surreal world with not a single care of what was happening on the rest of the planet.

The song is made by Producer Al’s great productio with rising choral harmonies and clever musical spaces which build a sense of anticipation and tension.

 Song for a Diva

(Al has this one too )

An ethereal emotional journey and emotional risks of daring to dream

For the guitar sound Robbie was inspired by the Moon Collectives guitarist, Tat Hussein

Ali's words portray the emotions and anxieties of starting out on a journey to create and perform your own original music, a world where your dreams are subjected to doubt and negativity.

When Robbie wrote the music he said to Ali, “this tune is so beautiful, this is your song” and gave it a working title of Song for a Diva, It has never been changed.

Daytime Drinking

(Another one on Al's desk)

Another of Ali's songs that depicts escapism through alcohol, the blurry line between fun and fallout.

Somewhere in a videos, for social media, there is a clip of Ali apologising to Al saying, "I don't think I can sing this without laughing", such is her love of this song.

For anyone who has been a little worst for wear, listening to the Etherial bridge, will make you think, "I've been there".

Watching You Leave

(The song is in the hands of Dirty Beast Studios fantastic producer Al Moghadam)

A song about moving on when a partner, mistakenly, thinks the grass is greener but then finds out this is not the case (surprise surprise).

This song portrays a kick ass attitude and delivers cutting one-liners.

Although the words and music were written by Robbie, Ali completely reworked the song.
